WHO WE ARE
RAF Alliance is a new nonprofit organization created in May 2023 to formally address the importance of mental health in Black communities. Rain Akai formulated this Foundation to destigmatize conversations surrounding mental health, that is known to arise more prevalently within African and Caribbean communities. RAF Alliance aims to inclusively support everyone who identifies as Black in the Durham Region, and Greater Toronto Areas, and globally.

OUR VISION
RAF Alliance believes that art and creativity are essential to initiate social change. We at the RAF Alliance use various forms of art and expression to inspire and bring about social change; specifically focusing on destigmatizing mental health in Black communities while incorporating safe and inclusive frameworks.

Our Commitment
RAF Alliance, is committed to supporting Black women and their families who are equity-deserving, and of low-socioeconomic status by providing characteristics of the Ubuntu Philosophy.

AFROCENTRISM
All programs are developed through a trauma-informed, Afrocentric, perspective and ethnic-specific lens.
